Maggie Major Nampitjinpa paints in the Payunya area 240 kilometres northwest of Alice Springs. Papunya is widely acknowledged as the birthplace of the contemporary Western and Central Desert Art Movement.

Here at this revitalized Papunya art centre, it is the young artists, the children and grandchildren of the pioneer artists, who are revitalizing painting here and Maggie Major is one of the stars, painting her story of a rockhole site using an almost "art deco" pattern unique to her work.
