Mary Tailor (b.1939, Wndham, WA Australia) works make reference to her husband's Berkely River country - both a homage to their relationship and a joyous celebration of country. Beautifully executed in natural ochres on paper, they retain a high level of freshness and vibrancy. Tailor has depicted the coloured rocks found in the Berkley River area. Rocks are an important part of tribal law and culture and are an ever present part of Aboriginal life, whether for food preparation, weapon making or in various ceremonial uses.
